DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP
Megan O’Connor
Megan is the Chief of Operations for the Defense Coordinating Element supporting FEMA Region 9. She coordinates Department of Defense assets and capabilities to support civil authorities during natural and man-made disasters and special security events. Through this coordination she integrates with state and federal agencies for a variety of response efforts including wildfires, pandemic, repatriation, flooding & landslides, hurricanes - preparing for "America's worst day" events such as CBRNE, catastrophic earthquakes, tsunamis, and other Homeland Defense scenarios.
Megan is uniquely qualified for the role of Director of Membership having served as an Army officer and Army Reserve officer for 28 years, serving as a Medical Operations officer, Civil Affairs officer, and an Emergency Preparedness Liaison officer.
Megan holds a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from YoSan University in Los Angeles, where she lived for 12 years, and a Master of Public Health from George Washington University in Washington, DC. She has lived and worked in Oakland, CA for the past eight years and is active in her local community. When she's not involved in a "doomsday event", you can find Megan volunteering, enjoying the company of a dog, hiking, or putzing in her garden.
