DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS
Diana Homsey
Diana has been in public service since 1998 when she began volunteering in Search and Rescue, Fire, and EMS in Alaska. What started out as wanting to be closer to adventure, led to a career in emergency management ten years later. She found that her unique skills of bridging the gap between different types of people and organizations, and creating lean and effective programs suited her perfectly.
Diana started with the City of San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (DEM) in 2010 as a Special Events Coordinator. This position entailed working with large scale event planners, fire and law, and everyone in between. It was an excellent fit, although many didn’t understand why we would plan for emergencies and “what could go wrong” - until the Boston bombing.
It was during that time at DEM that she began working on the San Francisco Fleet Week Exercise Series. Her first exercise was a Tier 1 Anthrax exercise with the Department of Defense, which included a final report out in Washington, D.C. She continues to work on Fleet Week to this day, now, as Chief of Staff for over 100 annual events. She is proud to support our men and women in service.
For the past ten years, Diana has been fortunate to serve in Homeland Security and Emergency Management at the Port of San Francisco, the UCSF Police Department, and at San Francisco Public Works, helping those departments build emergency response programs and training their staff to be prepared for all types of hazards. To each of these experiences, she brings the ability to get along with all types of people and create programs and events that leave lasting impressions.
