Kim Cashin
Kim Cashin is an Emergency Management Planner with experience in homeland security, emergency management and public health, spanning local, state, and federal government and the private healthcare sector.
Ms. Cashin graduated with a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice and concentration in International Relations shortly after September 11, 2001. Motivated by a desire to serve during a time of crisis, she started her career at NASA Ames to support federal directives under the newly established Department of Homeland Security.
Since then, she has worked for entities such as NASA's Disaster Assistance Rescue Team, FEMA's Region 9, Cal OES, the Cal OES Fire and Rescue Branch, and the City and County of San Francisco's Department of Emergency Management. In her current role, she provides consulting services for local, county, operational area, and tribal nation emergency management and public health departments, transportation authorities, special districts, and utility agencies.
With a lifelong passion for service, Ms. Cashin contributed as a local school district volunteer in response to a community call out during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She currently serves on both the Emergency Preparedness and Wildfire Committees in her hometown, a designated Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) located on the Peninsula in the Bay Area.
Ms. Cashin has also extensively volunteered with Stanford Hospital and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital since 2005. At Stanford Hospital, she rounded in-patient rooms, and has been a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council for the past 11 years. At Lucile Packard, she performed clinical hearing examinations for newborns in the postpartum and neonatal intensive care units; and provided support to patients and providers in the neonatal intensive care, oncology, and hematology units.
When she is not working or volunteering, she is managing day-to-day crazy with her husband, two teenage boys, and two too many dogs.
